Brittney Hughes | Head Coach

The Oglethorpe athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Brittney Hughes as its full-time women's lacrosse head coach, effective immediately. Hughes served as the head coach on an interim basis during the 2018 season, and becomes the fourth full-time head coach in the program's history.

Hughes led the team to a 3-9 record during the 2018 season after being named the interim head coach in January. Under her leadership, the squad earned victories over North Carolina Wesleyan and Brenau, and the program's first-ever shutout against Huntingdon.

She was hired as the program's assistant coach in the fall of 2017, and has been involved with all aspects of the game over the last decade, including playing, coaching and officiating. Hughes coached club teams at Hotlanta Lacrosse for six years, as well as running all aspects of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse club team from 2011 through 2016, serving as the head coach and team president. She also served as the vice president of the Southeastern Women's Lacrosse League, an organization that includes 17 collegiate club teams, for three years. Hughes has also worked as a high school official and is a Level 1 instructor in the U.S. Lacrosse Coaching Development Program.

She graduated from Kennesaw State with a bachelor's degree in public relations and a minor in coaching.
