Brittney Hughes | Head Coach

Brittney Hughes enters her third season with the women’s lacrosse program. Hughes served as the head coach on an interim basis during the 2018 season and as the head coach in 2019. This season Oglethorpe University secured a spot in the SAA Conference playoffs with a thrilling overtime win against Berry College and wrapped up with a 5-9 record, the best winning percentage in program history. Under her leadership, Oglethorpe Women’s Lacrosse has named 5 players to an All-SAA team, 25 on the SAA Academic Honor Roll, four on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll and have been 12 named to the Oglethorpe University Dean’s List.  
She joined the program as an assistant coach in the fall of 2017, and has been involved with all aspects of the game over the last decade, including playing, coaching and officiating. Hughes coached club teams at Hotlanta Lacrosse for six years, as well as running all aspects of the Kennesaw State women's lacrosse club team from 2011 through 2016, serving as the head coach and team president. She is also the president of the Southeastern Women's Lacrosse League, an organization that includes 16 collegiate club teams, and served previously as the leagues vice president for three years. Hughes has also works as a high school official and is a Level 1 instructor in the U.S. Lacrosse Coaching Development Program.
She graduated from Kennesaw State with a bachelor's degree in public relations and a minor in coaching.
